Sold!! A dream gone.
Just a couple of days ago I sold three cars, mostly because I needed to get rid of too many things in my list of things to do.
One of the vehicles was my old, faithful Fortress. My green minivan that became my refuge from society while serving also as my way of transportation. It was falling apart!! To many miles and too much work, after about six years of newspaper delivery, and almost ten years of work carrying building materials for home improvements. It had too many problems to fix it, so I found a replacement, and exactly the same minivan, only 3 years older and red in color in the outside; inside the same as the other, and less than half the miles the green one had. It was a good replacement; and now the red Van has become my new Fortress.
Also I sold a 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity, to which I put so much work in making it a good first car, but as a mentioned, my list of things to do had to be reduced, so this car had to go to, freeing me from finishing the repairs and implementation, so to save time and money.
Perhaps the one that I really feel that is gone was the 1984 VW Vanagon, which was a very good candidate for restoration. It had no rust and a straight body; so I could simply take it completely apart and restore from the ground up, having the chance to make it my personal way, so to have a nice, simple Van for all my needs, in a vehicle that I personally like very much.
The problem with this vehicle is that it needed a complete restoration in order to have it reliable and in my own way, so that implies lots of time and money, something at this point I simply don’t have.
So now I have three less vehicles to worry about, and with it the possibility of saving time and money, even if I feel sad for having to loose the nice Vanagon that I could restore and enjoy in the future. I guess for now it is just about becoming acquainted with the red Van, and hope in the future I will have the chance to get another VW van, since I like them so much.
